If you’ve ever traveled to Europe in the heat of summer, you know that having a pool close by is as necessary as having your passport. Temperatures tend to get rather steamy, and when you’ve been out museum hopping all day, there’s nothing more appealing when you return home than plunging into your very own pool. Just in time for booking that summer getaway to Europe, here are five of our favorite pinch-me pools.
It’s on all of our #VacationGoals list, and those who have been, are already planning to return. Vibrant day parties, beautiful beaches, delectable Mediterranean cuisine and a fun-loving vibe are just the beginning here. While we’re usually out and about when in Mykonos – getting lost in Old Town is our favorite pastime – coming back to Eros for a sunset swim is the icing on the cake of a perfect day. Post-dip, you’ll find us tucking in to a relaxed dinner featuring an authentic fresh greek salad paired with a catch of the day, rounded off with a tasty glass of ouzo. Greece, we love you.
Twin Palms, Ibiza
Famous for its vibrant nightlife (and fun day parties), Ibiza is the perfect place to jetset for those who like to live life in the fast lane, movie star style. While the party scene in Ibiza may be well-known, there’s a quieter side to the island that makes it the perfect place to totally unwind, even with your little ones in tow. Sprawling villas like Twin Palms double as your own private resort; and the breathtaking ocean views, gorgeous gardens, sun loungers and alfresco dining ensure you’ll return from Ibiza feeling totally rejuvenated. But for those who still want a small taste of the Ibiza nightlife, fear not: Twim Palms’ top-notch sound system can roar across this terrace like no other.
Amalfi Horizon, Sorrento
Light, airy and effortlessly elegant, Amalfi Horizon is the coastal version of La Dolce Vita. Sequestered high up on a cliff overlooking the Med, you’re offered azure views around the clock from this magazine-worthy infinity pool. After your swim, stroll down the stone pathway that leads right down to the water to discover an idyllic sun-drenched cove, perfect for an afternoon picnic with your favorite Italian goodies and a chilled glass of prosecco. When you’re fully relaxed and ready for a change of equally pretty scenery, Leonelli Beach is just a short drive away.
Villa Gaia, Santorini
Ever wanted to live in a cave? An extremely chic one obviously. If so, Villa Gaia is just what you’re looking for, and even more glamorous than you imagined. Step inside the arched stone doorways and you’ll be immediately transported to another era. Once the neighborhood bakery, the villa has been totally transformed with modern amenities, yet the heart of the space – the kitchen – remains the most popular spot in the home, thanks to the Caldera views framed from through the window. When you’re finished putting together a little afternoon snack, take in the legendary views from this secluded plunge pool to truly soak up every second of island life.
Castell de Manresa, Mallorca
First built in 1715, Castell de Manresa is the epitome of next-level luxury. Traditional Spanish architecture blends with modern furnishings for a truly unique property, but the outdoor space is where Mallorca’s magic truly comes to life. A rooftop deck for viewing the sunset with rolling hills in the distance is perfect for evening cocktails, while flowered vines crawl up the villa’s gorgeous exterior. Whether you’re returning from a day of yachting or a helicopter tour, taking a mid-afternoon nap on this breezy daybed after a cooling dip is the picture-postcard vacation you’ve always dreamed of.
